Cases Of Pink Discharge During Pregnancy And Their Possible Consequences

Miscarriage with pink mucus

Don’t panic if you notice pink discharge during pregnancy. Though miscarriage involves bleeding, this may be caused by other factors that are not related to risk. When the discharge varies in color and smell, you should see a doctor, but in many other cases this is a normal reaction of woman’s body.

Early Pregnancy Spotting

Pink discharge during pregnancy is a common experience for an average woman. It is caused by the changes in the body of a future mother. Though discharges can be of various colors, a pink one is the safest and the most common. The change of this color does not always means risk: usually the color depends on genetics and the condition of a pregnant woman, the food she eats and the drinks she likes.

In early pregnancy the spotting is very light and is a mix of blood with vaginal fluid. This is why the color is not red. Usually when a woman has spotting, she doesn’t even know that she is pregnant. This is the earliest sign and sometimes even pregnancy tests cannot detect whether she’s pregnant or not. Many women think this is a sign of menstruation and don’t pay much attention to its occurrence.

However, pink discharge during pregnancy can be caused by other factors – overwork, for example. When a woman works a lot and doesn’t rest enough, it is not surprising that she is going to experience slight spotting. That’s why it is highly recommended to take good care of yourself and your unborn baby.

Pink spotting during pregnancy is regarded to be a natural thing, but it is also essential to consult a doctor for accurate examination. This is important for knowing how to act, what to do and how to protect an unborn child.

Later Stages of Pregnancy

Vaginal discharge during the 2nd and the 3rd trimesters may be normal leucorrhea. In later stages, the color of discharge starts varying from pink to red and then white. During the 3rd trimester, pink discharge occurs because of early detachment of placenta or its rupture. This may cause heavy bleeding. This problem is treatable and the treatment depends on the cause of bleeding.

To avoid additional problems, a woman should avoid sexual intercourse during pregnancy in order not to harm her child. Even when a woman experiences pink discharge during pregnancy and it seems there is no reason for it, there is no need to panic, because stress will only make things worse. Panic conditions increase the flow of blood caused by the elevated blood pressure.

Miscarriage and Tubal Pregnancy

These are also cases when pink discharge during pregnancy is expected. In the first stages of miscarriage, there are slight pink discharges that later progress to heavy bleeding and cause cramps in the abdomen.

Tubal pregnancy is another threatening condition. This occurs when the fertilized egg gets implanted in the fallopian tube. When developing, the egg damages the tube and causes discharges.

Pink discharge during pregnancy is a serious case every woman should pay special attention to. Proper care and a medical examination will help to avoid complications.
